Mint Stats: New 5-Ounce Silver Sales Good
The 2011 America the Beautiful silver 5-ounce collector coin honoring Olympic National Park in Washington got off to a good start with sales of 5,923 in the first two days it was offered by the United States Mint.
But can it keep up that momentum?
Sales of the first two 2011 5-ounce silver ATB coins have not yet reached have of their mintage, and there is less than a month left in the year.
We are into the waning days to purchase a U.S. Army or Medal of Honor commemorative, where sales have been dragging. The programs won’t come any where near reaching the mintage goals.
Gold and silver bullion coins have caught buyers’ interest, with nice week over week sale increases.
But just as new designs for the First Spouse coins are being determined for 2012, the current roster of coins continue to rack up slow sales, realizing fewer than 100 coins a week. Time for another set like the silver anniversary Eagles.
