Demand generated by the Mint’s holiday gift catalog seems to be increasing sales numbers this week for traditional collector favorites.

The 2016-W proof silver American Eagle moved ahead by 10,703 to reach 451,641. The 2016 silver proof set increased by 4,623 to 306,838. The 2016 uncirculated coin set, also called a mint set, added 3,799 to 226,692.

Similarly moving ahead is the 2016 Presidential dollar proof set. It is up by 3,133 to push the running tally to 196,491. The 2016 America the Beautiful proof quarter set rose by 2,130 to 74,345.

It was also a good week for the gold Standing Liberty quarter. Buyers took an additional 643 pieces to push the total to 80,633 of a maximum possible 100,000. Sales of this coin began Sept. 8.

Time is running out for 2016 commemoratives. Both series are in the final weeks. Are some mintages low enough to entice rarity hunters to nibble on the remaining supply?
