It is going to be a long slog to reach sellout status for the American Liberty tenth-ounce 2018 gold proof coin. Mintage limit is set at 135,000. In the opening days of sales, the Mint vended 14,741. That’s not quite 11 percent of potentially available supply. The Mint has “Limited” draped across its website offer. That is certainly true. Supply isn’t infinite, but in balancing demand with supply, it looks like supply of 135,000 is close to infinite.

Demand for regular bullion American Eagle gold and silver coins is not setting any records, either. This week, another 1,500 one-ounce gold Eagles sold, along with 385,000 silver Eagles.

Proof 2018-W silver Eagle numbers moved ahead by 8,993 to reach 244,890. The initial demand surge is petering out. The 2018-W platinum proof rose by 930 to reach 9,246. That betters the 2017-W total.

World War I medals crept forward.
