Most totals crept ahead by dozens rather than hundreds or thousands. Some numbers went backwards. The Millard Fillmore First Day Cover dropped 1,579. The Boy Scout uncirculated dollar dropped by 1,375. Sales of 2,226 Boy Scout proofs kept the overall number moving ahead, but barely. The Mint still has 10,440 Scout proofs left.
The two-roll Lincoln set saw sales this week of 3,542, which while not high, seem to show that the numbers aren’t just messed up somehow. Eagle sales continue to march forward. Investors made a strong start to the month of May. Fears of financial chaos in Europe are probably goosing buyers. Buffalo one-ounce gold coins have joined the next page and 85,000 have been sold so far as compared to 377,000 gold Eagles.
