Because Buchanan was never married, his First Spouse coin bears a classic gold coin design that some people believe makes the coin more desirable to own because it completes a four-coin set of old coin images.

Silver proof sets continue to sell strongly with sales up by 46,887. This beats out the 43,120 number recorded by clad proof sets, though overall the clad set has seen roughly twice as many sold.

The proof gold Buffalo had a good sales week with an increase of 1,280 coins.

The August bullion numbers increased by just 60,000 silver American Eagles. September sales started out with just 145,000 more. Gold coin sales were a little stronger with 12,500 ounce, 1,000 half ounce and 5,000 tenth-ounce coins.
