Central States Numismatic Society Show a Success

From bustling dealer tables and major auction previews to educational programs, commemorative medals, and family-friendly activities, the 2026 Central States convention delivered a vibrant celebration of the hobby.

On April 23-25, 2026, the Central States Numismatic Society (CSNS) gathered for its annual convention in Schaumburg, Ill. The show boasted over 400 tables, with sections for world & ancient coins as well as paper money.

The Numismatic News team took to the bourse on Friday, April 24. The booths stayed busy, and some show-goers reported that dealers had sold out on the first day, having to restock at other booths.

Throughout the three-day show, visitors could view lots for the upcoming Heritage Auctions Platinum Session and Signature Auctions. There were educational programs and a scavenger hunt for kids. There were also a variety of free souvenirs, from 2017 Ozark Riverways quarters to tote bags and microfiber cleaning cloths.

The educational programs included a talk presented by U.S. Mint Director Paul Hollis in celebration of the Semiquincentennial coins, as well as others about coin displays at the Art Institute of Chicago, Coin Portraiture, Civil War Tokens, and AI in numismatics.

Mixed in with the bustling dealer tables were booths for the Higgins Museum, which displayed some of their Missouri notes in honor of this year’s convention showcase, as well as a booth for the Root River Mint, where medals engraver Joe Paonessa was creating Missouri commemorative medals onsite.

Coin clubs and organizations also had booths, offering new members the opportunity to sign up and meet with existing enthusiasts.

A little something for everyone could be found throughout the convention.
