Americans may not like $1 coins, but Zimbabwe does.
In fact, the Zimbabwe government is working with the Federal Reserve to deliver $1 coins by the end of the year, according to a July 27 report by a Zimbabwe online news service Bulawayo24.
“The United States Federal Reserve is said to have agreed to supply coins and replace soiled notes to Zimbabwean banks in a bid to end change problems in the economy,” Bulawayo24 reports.
Zimbabwe has experienced problems supplying a sufficient amount of change since the introduction of multi-currencies in February 2009.
Stores have offered consumers credit notes, tokens and even candy in place of coins.
