Wooden nickel pays tribute to Marines
The Great River Regional Coin Club of St. Cloud, Minn., has issued a wooden nickel in conjunction with its 40th anniversary fall coin show. The piece pays tribute to the United States Marine Corps.
The wood’s design, printed in red, features the U.S. Marine Corps emblem as the central motif on the obverse. “GRRCC” is above and “St Cloud MN – Fall 2001” is below.
A waving American flag is featured on the reverse. “Support Our Troops” and “United States of America” make up the perimeter. The phrase, “The Price of Freedom Is NOT Free!” is situated under the flag.
The club has made the wooden nickel available to the public for $1. To order, make payment to Great River Regional Coin Club and send with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to P.O. Box 122, Sartell, MN 56377.
Postage must be sufficient to cover a padded insert.
