Three Coins Wines recently announced another prized addition to their impressive gold and silver medal collection – “Double Gold” medals.
Their 2006 Three Coins Syrah recently won the rare and highly coveted “Double Gold” medal at the 2009 Jerry Meads International Wine Competition and their 2007 Three Coins Chardonnay won not only a “Double Gold” medal, but also “Best in Class” at the 2009 West Coast Wine Competition.
Lawer Family Wines spokesperson Betsy Lawer reported, “In just two short years, our Three Coins Wines have earned 26 “precious” medals. The wines are a welcome and affordable addition to any wine collection, but even more fun to simply enjoy and share!”
The Collector’s Edition gift box contains all “Gold” and “Double Gold” medal wines.
Gold and coins go hand in hand for the Lawer family.
“I’m an old goldminer’s daughter.,” she said. “My father used to secretly record the dates on three coins and toss them down the hill we were mining. If those coins weren’t at the bottom of the sluice box (and it had to be those exact coins, because we didn’t know the dates and couldn’t substitute) at clean up, that meant the water pressure through the sluice box was too high and we’d washed the coins into the tailing pile … along with gold. Then we’d have to pan the tailing pile until we found the coins, and the rest of the gold. Trust me, that was not a job my sisters and I wanted to do more than once!”
The Lawer Family Wines medal collection includes 62 awards in regional, national and international wine competitions over the past two years.
