Will a one-per-household order limit prevent a one-day sellout of the last 50,000 proof Abraham Lincoln commemorative silver dollars when they go on sale Oct. 15 as part of the new Lincoln Coin and Chronicles set, which also includes proof examples of the four 2009 Lincoln cents?
That is the mental calculation many collectors will be making as the noon Eastern Standard Time order period begins on that date on the Mint’s Web site at
www.usmint.gov and on the telephone at (800) USA-MINT.
The five-coin set is priced at $55.95 plus $4.95 shipping and handling.
In addition to the five coins, the set includes a reproduction of the Gettysburg Address, a Lincoln portrait and a Certificate of Authenticity.
Some 325,000 proofs and 125,000 uncirculated examples of the Lincoln commemorative silver dollar sold out in March after being on sale just six weeks. The final 50,000 silver dollars of the 500,000-coin mintage were reserved for inclusion in this set.
