This will be the first ever auction of professionally encapsulated tokens and represents a new opportunity for collectors of “pioneer minor coinage” to both collect and establish the value of these rare pieces, the firm says.

All of the tokens are professionally encapsulated in numismatic holders by the Numismatic Conservation Service or the Numismatic Guaranty Corp., and are either certified as genuine or are assigned a numismatic grade, depending on the encapsulating organization.

The auction, which will be held at the Boomtown Casino in Reno and previewed online at www.holabirdamericana.com, will also feature the Bill Weber collection of so-called dollars, $50 slug facsimiles and Western Americana.
