Plans for the Oct. 14 launch of the new West Virginia state quarter are in the works.
Details were still sketchy just days ahead of time, however, festivities will take place at the state Capitol in Charleston, W.V., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The actual launch ceremony starts at noon.
There will be activities for kids and West Virginia artisans will be on hand to demonstrate their respective crafts. In addition, there will be informational booths.
After the launch ceremony, expected to last about a half hour, those in attendance can exchange bills for rolls of the new West Virginia state quarter.
All children under the age of 18 will receive one new West Virginia state quarter at the event for free. The coin features the New River Gorge Bridge, a prominent state landmark.
