Though hobbyists still don’t know when sales will start for the 5-ounce silver bullion version of America the Beautiful quarters, the U.S. Mint has released photographic images of how the thin edge of the 3-inch diameter coin will look.
The edge will say “.999 Fine Silver 5.0 Ounce” in incuse lettering.
Production began the week of Sept. 20, according to the Mint, and 100,000 of each of the five designs will be produced.
Sales will occur through the Mint’s network of authorized purchasers as is the case with the Mint’s other bullion coins.
No pricing formula information was available at press time. Collectors are also waiting for word as to whether proof collector versions will be struck and sold directly by the Mint to them.
