Waffle coin enthusiasts take note: Numismatic Enterprises, Inc., has just released the Waffled Kennedy half dollar for sale nationwide.

Like other waffle coins, the Waffled Kennedy is a coin that the U.S. Mint deemed unfit for circulation due to a mistake or imperfection in the minting process, resulting in waffle cancellation by the Mint.

?Kennedy half dollars are considered one of the most desirable coins for collectors and now that we are able to offer a new, specialty Waffled Kennedy half dollars, we expect the response to be overwhelming. We consider it a classic addition to our Waffle Cancelled selection,? said Bob Paul, vice president of NEI, a company that?s been involved in the distribution of the Philadelphia Waffle Hoard.

The Waffled Kennedy half dollar joins the Maine and Missouri waffled quarters as the only waffled coins released from the Philadelphia Waffle Hoard and certified to come directly from the U.S. Mint.

Each waffle coin is sonically sealed with a picture of the coin and a full description of the waffling process. They are housed in plastic holders produced by Global Certification Services, Inc.

In addition, the coin grading company Global Certification Services certifies that each waffle coin in the GCS holder came directly from the Mint.

The U.S. Mint has indicated that it will no longer allow waffle coins to be released, so supplies of each waffle coin are limited.
