‘W’ gold numbers move despite suspension

Nothing like a sales suspension to goose sales. Huh?

Nothing like a sales suspension to goose sales. Huh? Mint accounting can be strange, but news that the uncirculated ?W? gold coins were taken off the market Sept. 13 for up to two weeks has had the perverse effect of causing the sales numbers to really jump. Cause and effect? Probably not, but it is curious. The one-ounce rose 974 to 6,243. The half ounce rose 289 to 2,704. The tenth ounce rose 334 to 13,167 and the gold set rose 569 to 5,387. The quarter ounce is unchanged.

Did frustrated First Spouse buyers turn to the bronze medals? Washington totals 26,859, Adams 27,160 and Jefferson 15,239.
