A Denver Mint first-strike ceremony will be held Oct. 15 for dignitaries gathered to honor the state of Utah, the fifth and final design for this year?s state quarter program.
Featuring the historical moment when the nation was bound together by the transcontinental railroad with the driving of a golden spike at Promontory Point, Utah in 1869, the quarter will enter circulation for the final 10 weeks or so of the calendar year.
Collectors have already head access to the coin through special Mint-created proof sets. The coin is also in the uncirculated coin set, which went on sale Oct. 9 for $22.95.
For order information, visit the Mint?s Web site at www.usmint.gov.
