Editors Note: Members of the American Numismatic Association will have approximately four weeks to register their choices in a mail ballot vote that will conclude
June 26.

Each candidate was asked to supply a statement specifically for Numismatic News readers. They will be presented this week in the commentary section with the presidential candidate statements on Tuesday, the vice presidential candidate statement on Wednesday and the statements of 14 board candidates presented in alphabetical order on Thursday.

Patricia A. Jagger Finner
for President

I believe the ANA board should be financially responsible and live within its means or find new funding to guarantee its educational mission; be transparent by keeping the members informed; and set an example as numismatic educators and advisors. We need to have better direct contact with our individual members and clubs and help them grow.
The president leads a team of dedicated volunteers to set policy, assist in fund raising, and be ambassadors to the collector and dealer community while allowing the staff to implement these directives. It means being responsible and responsive on all the issues, in a timely manner. The position involves hours of e-mails, conference calls, committee reports and board meetings.
I am proud to be an ANA national volunteer for over 15 years, a Summer Seminar instructor, a Boy and Girl Scout merit badge counselor and part of the ANA club rep program.

Clifford Mishler
for President

My commitment is to continue the recovery and growth of the ANA from the ill-advised, costly and divisive goals and programs embarked upon over several years, ending with the election of seven the new board members installed in August 2007, revitalizing membership pride and ownership in the organization.
I would strive to assure all deliberations and votes on membership issues be conducted in open forums, require timely release of fully transparent fiscal performance reports, and that management continue to meet and maintain balanced budget fiscal performance, without operationally pulling from invested endowment.
The diverse issues of concern relative to ANA’s policies, practices and programs must be carefully considered and worked through on prudent bases in implementing fiscally responsible and fruitful changes to best serve the broad spectrum of our universe. The ANA must pursue a vision that will result in the strengthening of its hobby community leadership.
