TNA issues 2011 medal

General Edward Burleson, vice president of the Republic of Texas, is honored on the obverse on the Texas Numismatic Association’s annual medal. The medal is issued in conjunction with the group’s annual show and convention, set for May 20-22 in Fort Worth.

Burleson, born in Buncombe County, N.C., on Dec. 15, 1798, arrived in Texas in 1830 and went on to serve as a lieutenant colonel, a general and a representative of the Second Congress. In 1841 he was elected as vice president of the Republic of Texas.

The reverse of the medal shows the official seal of the Texas Numismatic Association.

The medal was designed by TNA Medals Officer Frank Galindo of San Antonio.

Single bronze medals are $5.50 postpaid. Medal sets of one bronze and one silver are $46 for each set plus $4 per set for postage and handling. If insurance is requested, there is an additional cost of $2 per medal set. Make checks or money orders payable to TNA.
