Young Numismatists had a great time at the Georgia Numismatic Association’s 45th Convention, held April 18 in Dalton, Ga. Participating in the well planned and prepared program were 27 YNs along with many parents and other adults.
Many of the coin dealers at the show donated numismatic items for the YN program.
Leading the program was Norman Thomas of the Rockdale, Ga., Coin Club. He opened with a short overview of the American Numismatic Association and what benefits and programs it offers for YNs.
Thomas gave a short presentation on the coins of Abraham Lincoln, and then a YN drawing was held. Each YN received a goody bag filled with many numismatic items.
After the goody bags were passed out, the YNs spent time searching through Lincoln cents to put into the Lincoln cent folders they received.
The program lasted more than an hour, and many of the YNs went to the bourse floor afterward.
The YN program was a success due to the work of Thomas and his staff, along with the support of the GNA Board of Governors and the coin dealers at the show.
