Discovery of the third known example of an 1825 Bust half dollar of the O-118 variety with a die crack through the date, has been confirmed by ANACS, announced J.P. Martin.

The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, correctly identified it in his submission papers, Martin explained.

The coin?s market value is around $50,000, according to his sources.
?All three are considered VF,? Martin said. This one is a VF-20.

The one in the Overton reference book has the finest detail, but there are other issues with the coin, according to Martin.

The other previously known example is in The Ultimate Guide to Attributing Bust Half Dollars by Glenn R. Peterson, M.D. It is owned by Charlton Meyer Jr., Martin said.

ANACS is a coin grading firm located in Englewood, Colo.
