Steinberg's issues fall catalog

Steinberg’s, of Boca Raton, Fla., has released its Fall 2005 catalog containing nearly 1,300 lots of mostly world gold coins.

Among the catalog highlights are nine-piece gold piefort sets from France from 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977. Each contains the one, five, 10 and 20 centimes, and one-half, one, five, 10 and 50 francs.

Each set contains about eight ounces of gold and all coins are gem proof. The sets list in the catalog for $6,500 (1974), $7,500 (1975), $7,950 (1976) and $7,500 (1977).

Great Britain coinage includes nobles of Edward III and Henry VI, both listed at $4,950 and graded MS-63 by NGC; a one rose noble (ryal) of Edward IV, graded XF-45 by NGC, listed at $3,450; an 1887 five pounds Jubilee proof of Queen Victoria, graded Proof-61 ultra cameo by NGC; and a 1911 five pounds proof of George V, graded Proof-64 by PCGS.

A Greece 1968 medallic 100-drachmai essai of Constantine II, of which 20 gold pieces were struck by the Royalists for the intended return of the king of Greece, is graded MS-67 by NGC and lists for $3,950.

An Austria Salzburg 1590 two ducats of Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau, graded MS-64 by NGC, lists for $3,950.
