ANACS coin grading service has hired Miles Standish as the company’s new vice chairman and chief numismatist.
Standish will be responsible for grading services and all phases of business development and community relations. He assumed his post on Monday, Nov. 28 at ANACS’ Dublin, Ohio, offices.
“This is one of the most important days in ANACS’ long and prestigious history,” said ANACS president and chief Operating officer James Taylor. “With Miles’ more than 30 years experience in the hobby, with the widespread recognition that he is perhaps the foremost coin grading expert working today and with his long and proven record for developing new businesses in the coin industry, ANACS has taken a giant step forward.”
For Standish, it’s a chance to go back to where he started.
“It was Ken Bressett, then ANACS’ director back when the ANA owned it, who gave me my first job as a coin grader,” said Standish. “That was 1984 and I was just 19 years old.”
Standish joined the ANACS staff as a grader in 1984. In 1987 he joined Professional Coin Grading Service and became the firm’s first full-time coin grader. He later served as senior vice president of business development and senior grader, director of coin grading, co-founder of Collectors Universe and vice president of Professional Sports Authenticator, a division of Collectors Universe.
