A series of Stack’s auction sales catalogs brought $5,060 at a numismatic book auction conducted by George Frederick Kolbe on June 11.
Prices include a 15 percent buyer premium.
The Stack’s catalogs were the first 192, dating from 1935-1964. Only three catalogs of the set were lacking.
Other highlights of the sale included the first two issues of Q. David Bowers’ Rare Coin Review. Estimated at $750, each brought $3,450.
A set of the five-volume Mazzini work on ancient Roman coins from the library of the celebrated numismatist Dr. Pierre Bastien, brought $2,587, the firm reports.
A $2,415 price was achieved by a complete set of Sylloge of Coins of the British Isles Volumes 1-59, dated 1958-2007.
The first work on Civil War tokens, published in 1863, sold well at $1,897, according to the firm.
The original Frankenhuis catalog of World War I medals, estimated at $350, ended up selling for $1,265.
