More than 200 U.S. and world coin dealers will be stationed at the fifth SoCal Coin and Currency Show, set for July 14-16 at the Ontario, Calif., Convention Center. Organizers expect attendance to be up from past shows.
The show is offering free tables for coin clubs to attract new members, raise revenue and display exhibits. Coin or paper money club members will also gain free admission by showing their membership cards.
A big draw is the Kid’s Korner program that will offer a free Boy Scout merit badge workshop and mini coin classes for kids age 6-12. Classes will be taught by Patti Finner, former vice president of the American Numismatic Association.
To pre-register a Boy Scout for the workshop, call (715) 252-2003.
World coin enthusiasts will have the opportunity to visit with Art Garnett, a contributor to the first Krause Publications Standard Catalog of World Coins and former advisor to the National Mint of Mexico.
Carson City silver dollar collectors can meet Selby Ungar, dubbed “the King of Carson City” and co-author of the book, Carson City Morgan Dollars – Featuring the Coins of the GSA Hoard.
Dealer set-up is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on July 14, and public hours are noon to 7 that day. Public hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 15 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 16.
