Silver ingot art bar issued by group

The winning design was unveiled during the Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association convention held Oct. 5-6 in Portland.

Geiner received the first strike of the bar, which was specially serially numbered 000.

The 1 ounce ingot was officially released Oct. 5 and was struck by SilverTowne.

Mintage was 140 in .999 fine silver and 60 in .999 enameled fine silver. Bronze bars are also available. Prices were not available at press time.

Awards for the Kidd-Rood Writing Contest were announced in Portland. Simcha Kuritzky won the gold-plated round and silver honors for second place went to Len Kruithof and Nancy Yee.

Yee was re-elected as president. Also serving for the next two years are vice president Doug Jennings, secretary-treasurer Joseph Markulics and historian Harvey Chew.

The 2014 meeting will occur in October during the Minnesota Organization of Numismatists.
