It seems the Silver Dollar and Rare Coin Expo has found a home.
Held at the brand new St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, Mo., just outside of St. Louis, the event attracted more than 1,700 public attendees.

“The new facility is the perfect location for a show,” said Brad Barnet, of Numismatic Financial Co. of Orlando, Fla. “It is close to the airport and easy to find. The Silver Dollar Show will definitely continue to grow.”

A scratch-off giveaway was a big hit with showgoers. This year was the first time organizers held the scratch-off event. The first 3,000 people to attend the show received scratch-off tickets and everyone who had a ticket won a prize.
The grand prize winner was Don Harbaugh of St. Louis, who won a complete set of MS-69 silver American Eagles, as certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corp. The prize is valued at $500.

“It was very exciting, and the public was ecstatic when they won their prizes,” said Julie Woodside, bourse chairperson for the event.

As for the bourse floor, Woodside reported fairly strong activity.

“Most tables experienced peaks and valleys throughout the show, while other tables had consistent full-capacity action,” said Woodside.

One of the dealers, Leonard Standley of Littleton, Co., gave the show high marks, saying “All around an A+ show.”
