The San Francisco Museum and Historical Society will present “The Old Mint Building: Past, Present and Future,” an introductory exhibit on display at the San Francisco city hall’s South Light Court.
One of the few structures to survive the 1906 earthquake, the Old Mint, known as the “Granite Lady,” is located at Fifth and Mission Streets in downtown San Francisco.
The exhibit chronicles the history of the building and introduces the innovative restoration plans for the Museum of San Francisco, scheduled to open to the public in December 2007.
“The Old Mint Building: Past, Present and Future” is open to the public through January 2006. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
