Set popularity to be measured
How popular will the American Eagle San Francisco two-coin silver proof set be when it goes on sale June 7? Just check the “sales odometer.”
How popular will the American Eagle San Francisco two-coin silver proof set be when it goes on sale June 7? Just check the “sales odometer.”
“In an effort to publicly share the rate of sales of what we expect to be a very popular product, there will be a sales odometer placed on the U.S. Mint’s website ordering page to track daily sales of the set,” said Tom Jurkowsky, Mint public affairs director.
The set includes an American Eagle silver proof coin and an American Eagle silver reverse proof coin. Both coins will be minted at the San Francisco Mint and have an “S” mintmark.
Expecting high interest in the set, the Mint has launched a new ordering process to address frustration customers had with sales of the American Eagle 25th anniversary silver coin set in 2011, Jurkowsky said.
“The Mint re-evaluated how it brings special products to market based on feedback from customers about the 25th anniversary set,” Jurkowsky said.
There will be a four-week ordering window beginning at noon June 7 and running until 5 p.m. July 5. Order fulfillment will begin in late July.
That means people will have a longer period in which to order the set, he said, without facing an almost immediate sellout as occurred with the American Eagle 25th anniversary set.
“These sets will be produced to meet demand to allow as many customers as possible to purchase them,” Jurkowsky said.
All accepted orders will be process and fulfilled on a first-in, first-served basis.
The coins will be encapsulated and packaged together in a custom designed lacquered hardwood presentation case and accompanied by a Certificate of authenticity.
