The San Francisco Mint has paused its production of 2011 silver American Eagle bullion coins, Tom Jurkowsky, U.S. Mint public affairs director, said July 26.

So far, the western mint has produced 2,305,000 of the one-ounce bullion coins and it has 985,000 of that number remaining in inventory.

The coins are not mintmarked, so there is no way to tell where the Eagle comes from once it is out of the original Mint packaging. Third-party grading services are getting shipments of San Francisco Eagles and slabbing them to permanently identify the source of the coins.

This easy-to-search pricing and identification download is solely focused on U.S bullion coins.

For the month of August, San Francisco is tasked with recycling coins and packaging from discontinued Mint offerings.

Afterwards, Jurkowsky said, Eagle production would resume as needed.
