The first West Coast exhibit of proof half cents, large cents, Indian Head cents and matte proof Lincoln cents from the award-winning ESM Collection will highlight the Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo Sept. 23-25. The show will be held in the Long Beach, Calif., Convention Center.

“The ESM Collection ranks among the all-time finest of its kind in several PCGS Set Registry categories,” said Ronald J. Gillio, expo general chairman. “Many of these early copper coins are still brilliant red in color, and some of them even have cameo proof surfaces. This will be the first time that highlights from these sets assembled by Illinois collector Pete Miller will be displayed on the West Coast, and I expect they’ll attract a lot of attention among collectors and dealers.”

The exhibit will be located at the Professional Coin Grading Service booth, No. 807.

During the expo, more than 1,000 dealers will be buying and selling coins, paper money, stamps, postcards, historic documents, antiques, estate jewelry and other collectibles. Some dealers will provide free, informal appraisals for visitors.

Heritage Auction Galleries, the official auctioneer of the Long Beach Expo, will hold a public auction of U.S. coins in conjunction with the show.

A free gold coin door prize will be awarded each day to a lucky visitor, and a children’s treasure hunt will be held by the Full Step Nickel Club on Sept. 25. Young Numismatists will also have the free opportunity that day to make their own elongated coin at the Numismatic Association of Southern California youth activities table.

A half dozen educational programs and collectors’ club meetings will be conducted during the show and will be open to the public.

Public hours are Sept. 23-24 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

General admission is $6 (good for all three days), $4 for members of any coin orstamp club who display a valid membership card, and $3 for seniors 65 and older. Admission is free for children ages 7 and younger.
