The Professional Numismatists Guild, a nonprofit organization composed of the country’s top rare coin and bank note dealers who adhere to a strict code of ethics in the buying and selling of numismatic merchandise, is launching a four-month member recruitment campaign.

PNG also has expanded its Affiliate category to allow businesses to join the organization at that level.

New members will receive special offers including a 50 percent discount on first year dues for PNG full membership, as well as discounts on grading services and auction fees, and receive a free table at the new PNG/ANA Numismatic Trade Show in August 2014.

The membership drive will be conducted from Jan. 1 through April 30, 2014.

“There has never been a better time to join the PNG and to take advantage of special offers and incentives from our recruitment sponsors,” said PNG Executive Director Robert Brueggeman.

Interested dealers can contact PNG headquarters or any current PNG member-dealer to receive an application packet with information about PNG membership requirements and the special offers for prospective and new members.

“We’re also cordially inviting prospective members to informally meet with PNG officials and have their membership questions answered during the upcoming FUN convention in Orlando, Fla., at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at the show,” said John Maben, a member of the PNG Board of Directors and who is organizing the membership recruitment project.

Other incentives for prospective PNG members are being offered by CAC, CoinPlex, Coin World, Dillon Gage, eBay, North American Collectibles Association, Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and Stack’s Bowers Galleries.

Founded in 1955, PNG’s motto is “Knowledge, Integrity, Responsibility.”

Candidates for the PNG Full Member category must be at least 21 years of age, have at least five years of experience as a professional numismatist and a net worth of at least $250,000. There are also categories and requirements for PNG Associate and PNG Affiliate membership. And now for the first time businesses can submit applications to join as PNG Affiliate members.

All PNG members must agree to abide by the PNG Code of Ethics and agree to submit to legally binding arbitration to settle any dispute relating to the purchase, sale or trade of coins and numismatic items. The full requirements can be found online at www.pngdealers.org/membership-requirements.

For additional information about applying for membership and the upcoming Jan. 8 meeting for prospective members, contact the PNG headquarters office in California at (951) 587-8300 or e-mail info@PNGdealers.org.
