Nominations for the Professional Numismatists Guild?s annual awards program are being sought.

?Each year, PNG accepts nominations for a half dozen awards representing outstanding achievements in various areas of the hobby and the profession,? explained Robert Brueggeman, PNG executive director.

Award recipients will be announced at the annual PNG Day summer banquet that will be held this year in Denver, Colo., on Aug. 15. Nominations can be made by sending them to the PNG office in Fallbrook, Calif.

The awards categories are:

- Robert Friedberg Literary Award in recognition for outstanding books or other literature. The honor is not automatically given each year, only when there are deemed to be worthy recipients.

- Sol Kaplan Award. Jointly presented by PNG and the Lewis M. Reagan Foundation, it recognizes those who work to rid the profession of fraud and thievery, and for upholding PNG?s ethical standards.

- Abe Kosoff Founders Award is named after PNG?s founding president, Abe Kosoff, who spearheaded the 1955 launch of the organization whose motto is ?Knowledge, Integrity, Responsibility.?

- The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a numismatist for his or her devotion to numismatics and making a significant contribution to the hobby.

- The PNG Significant Achievement Award is given to an individual who has made exceptional, beneficial efforts on behalf of PNG and the profession.

- The Art Kagin Ambassador Award now is presented each year in memory of former PNG president Art Kagin who passed away in 2005. The new annual award recognizes those who provide distinguished service as an advocate of numismatic goodwill.
