The Mint is ready to cut off sales of the one-ounce platinum American Eagle bullion coin.

Buyers have until Oct. 1 to purchase the 2014 Platinum Eagle bullion coin.

Authorized Purchasers have until Oct. 1 to get their orders in for the 2014-dated coins.

Sales of the 2015 coins will commence in January.

This is the first year since 2008 that the one-ounce platinum bullion coin has been offered. Since it went on sale in March, buyers have taken 13,800 of the 2014-dated pieces.

In 2008 when demand for silver and gold American Eagles vastly exceeded the Mint’s ability to fulfill orders, the Mint stopped producing the platinum bullion Eagles to focus on the gold and silver issues.
