Jane Pierce First Spouse gold coins became available to collectors June 3.

The coins have a face value of $10, but contain a half troy ounce of .9999 fine gold and are being offered in both proof and uncirculated qualities.

Initially priced at $779 for the proof and $766 for the uncirculated coins, prices fluctuate as often as weekly with the changes in the international gold bullion market.

Maximum mintage for the proof and uncirculated coins combined is 15,000 pieces, though recent prior issues have sold at only half that number.

There are no limits placed on the number of the First Spouse coins that individuals may order.

Jane Pierce was the wife of the 14th President, Franklin Pierce. He held office 1853-1857.

Hobbyists who find gold too pricey will be able to order the medallic version in bronze for $5.50 each. The medal is 1-5/16ths inches in diameter.

All orders are charged an additional $4.95 for shipping and handling.

To order, visit the Mint’s website at www.usmint.gov, or telephone (800) USA-MINT.
