The 50th anniversary of the Cape Fear, N.C., Coin Club is being celebrated by the issuance of a cast pewter medal.
On one side is the incuse head of an American Eagle in front of an American flag with the name of the coin club. On the other side is the 50th anniversary information, “1960-2010” and location.
Release of the medal was slated for Dec. 5 at the club’s annual show. Price of the medal is $5 each. They may be ordered by mail from John McCauley at 3590 Blanchard Road, St. Pauls, NC 28384.
The club was founded in 1960 when eight members first met in the downtown Fayetteville Library, McCauley says. Current membership is over 100.
Meetings now are held twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesdays at the Honeycutt Recreation Center in Fayetteville.
