Even though production totals for 2010 America the Beautiful quarters are dramatically lower than last year’s District of Columbia and U.S. Territories series, there is a noticeable upward trend from design to design.

Total production of the Yosemite design, which is the third of five quarters for 2010, was an even 70 million, up from the 68.4 million Yellowstone and 59.6 million Hot Springs coins.

Broken down by each of the two mints, it can be seen that the highest individual total for the three designs is 35.2 million Yosemite quarters produced in Philadelphia.

In comparison, this highest 2010 individual quarter total only just equals the lowest mintage of one of the six designs from 2009, which was the Philadelphia issue of the Northern Marianas Islands quarter.

Even with the gentle upturn in 2010 quarter production numbers, it is a long shot at best that any designs this year could equal the more than 80 million coins struck at each of the two production facilities for District of Columbia quarters last year.
