Is it lifelike or cartoonlike?
That is the question people ask when they see the wooden nickels issued by the Fishbowl Wooden Nickel Coin Club to mark its annual coin show on Aug. 7. Whatever you might think of the design, you can buy one as they are being offered for sale to readers of Numismatic News.
The 2010 wood features a simple otter design on the heads side while the reverse shows an outline map of the state of Wisconsin and a dot where the small town of Siren is located. The reverse also shows the date and identifies the coin club issuer.
Ink color on both sides of the wood is black.
Examples can be purchased for 50 cents each plus a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Orders should be submitted to Fishbowl Wooden Nickel Coin Club in care of Gary J. Schauls, 2702 150th St., Luck, WI 54853-3811.
