Sixty-six tables with 33 dealers from five states drew an estimated crowd of more than 800 to the Omaha Coin Club’s 50th Annual Show Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
OCC provided a complimentary table to the National Federation of the Blind for the sale of Braille dollars. A portion of the sales went to the local federation chapter.
Children attending the show were able to participate in a YN-organized “State Quarter Trivia Quiz” treasure hunt. Upon completion, participants received a set of 50-year-old 1960 Jefferson nickels in honor of the club’s 50th show. They were also entered in a grand prize drawing for a 2009 Lincoln cent proof set.
An hourly door prize raffle raised more than $350 for the club. Prizes, which ranged from proof sets and mint sets to OCC coffee mugs, were donated by club members. The grand prize, a 1997 one-tenth ounce gold American Eagle, was donated by member Joe Pflug.
Five educational exhibits were on display. Cash prizes were awarded to the top three finishers.
