New Jersey’s Ocean County Coin Club has created a young numismatist composition competition, it announced Sept. 28.

The club is asking that young numismatists submit 150-250 word essays about the hobby that can include what they collect or any other numismatic topic, said Gary Catlin, OCCC’s YN director.

“Promoting competition amongst our YNs in writing about their numismatic collections is a plus for the hobby,” said Jim Majoros, club president.

Prizes have been established for the five best essays, according to Catlin. Essays are due by Dec. 4 and winners will be announced Dec. 18, he said.
