More than 200 were in attendance for the Ocean County, N.J., Coin Club’s annual show and exhibits on Sept. 10.

“Although a little smaller than some of our previous shows, we had some strong comments from visitors, members and dealers that were encouraging,” said Dennis Berube, club president. “Our show attracts a lot of attention with our exhibits and treasure hunt for the youngsters.”

Five Young Numismatists set up exhibits at the show. They were “My Experience at the ANA Summer Seminar” byAlex Batchelor, “Coins Through the Ages” by Ryan Clare, “What a Century” by Cedric Derecho, “The Art of Carving” by Ryan Hrapsky and “Cents Make Sense” by Isaac Willour. Judges voted Clare’s and Hrapsky’s as the best, and the public’s favorite was Hrapsky’s, who was presented with the Charlie Licata Best of Show Award.

1943 steel cents were given to visitors who brought in a show ad from the local newspaper. The club signed up five new members during the show, which was held at the Point Pleasant Beach Firehouse, where the club’s meetings are held twice monthly.

The club meets the first and third Thursday of every month with a YN program beginning at 6:45 p.m. and the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. The first meeting of the month is for education, and the second meeting is the monthly auction. Free coin auctions and education sessions are scheduled for every meeting for the YNs.
