The 37th Annual New York International Numismatic Convention will offer an expanded auction format and an enlarged bourse area, organizers announced Jan. 28.

The 2009 convention will be held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel Jan. 3-11.
?We have become the victims of our own success,? said Kevin Foley, chairman. ?Our increasingly popular auctions have simply outgrown the room in which we?ve held them since moving from the World Trade Center in 2002.

The auctions will move to larger areas on the fourth floor, Foley said. The relocation will free up the previous auction room for additional bourse area.
Heritage, Numismatik Lanz of Germany, Giulio Bernardi, S.R.L. of Italy, Classical Numismatic Group and Ponterio & Associates are among the firms scheduled to hold auction sessions.

?In all, 12 different companies will bring their numismatic expertise to eight days of auctions taking place in as many as 15 sessions,? Foley said.
Dealers interested in bourse space for 2009 should call Foley at (414) 421-3484.

Discounted room rates of $267 or $295 will be available at the Waldorf for NYINC attendees, who should call the hotel directly at (212) 355-3000 and mention rate code ?NYN? for the special rates.
