Numismatic Guaranty Corporation has graded the third known example of a pattern 1916 Standing Liberty quarter.

At left, pattern olive branch through the “L.” At right, standard issue olive branch brushes bottom of “L.”

The pattern shows the olive branch running through the letter “L” in LIBERTY on the obverse. It is Judd-1989. NGC grades the piece as Proof-61. Heritage will auction it in August during its Platinum Night in Philadelphia. A Heritage cataloger spotted the pattern, so the coin was submitted to NGC for confirmation. A Proof-65 sold for $312,000 in a 2004 sale by Heritage Auctions.
