Newcomers attend board meeting

A telephone meeting held May 10 by the American Numismatic Association board of governors was probably more noteworthy for those who participated than for what was accomplished.

Because this year’s election for the seven governors seats is uncontested, the three newcomers to the board in August were invited to participate before the June election to get a leg up on their new responsibilities.
Greg Lyon and Mike Ellis were able to join the conference, while Gary Adkins was not.
The board voted to request that its audit firm count just one ballot in the governors races. By not counting the rest, the board expects to save about 25 percent of the $10,000 cost incurred to have the firm handle the election ballots.
Executive Director Larry Shepherd told the board that the Colorado Supreme Court suspended former ANA executive director Chris Cipoletti’s law license for a month and mandated two year’s probation.
