Collectors will be treated to a first look at the 2009 Ultra-High-Relief Saint-Gaudens $20 gold piece July 30 at the U.S. Mint booth at the American Numismatic Association?s World?s Fair of Money.

The coin, which contains one-troy ounce of gold, will be 50 percent thicker than other U.S. one-ounce coins and have a smaller diameter of 27 millimeters, which was the width of the old pre-1934 $10 gold pieces.

An official unveiling will be conducted by Mint Director Ed Moy following the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The coin will remain on exhibit for the entire convention.

Collectors will be able buy the new coin next year at a price that will depend on the world market price of gold bullion at the time.
