“Legends in Numismatics” is the name of a new course to be taught at the American Numismatic Association Summer Seminar. It will be offered in both the first week and the second week of the annual educational event in Colorado Springs, Colo.
If the name isn’t enough to get you interested, perhaps the fact that the course will be taught by individuals who are prominent in their own right will.
During June 22-28, the class will be taught by Ira Goldberg, professional numismatist and owner of a firm that bears his family name; Mark Borckardt, auction cataloger currently at Heritage; Neil Shafer, world paper money specialist and author and Fred Holabird, mining and Western Americana specialist of Kagin-Holabird.
Their topics will include Territorial gold, money of panics and depressions, coins that made history and the first U.S. Mint in Philadelphia.
Instructors during the second week, June 29-July 5 will be taught by long-time Red Book editor Kenneth E. Bressett, retired Coin World editor Beth Deisher, Whitman publisher Dennis Tucker and American Numismatic Society North Amercan curator Robert W. Hoge.
Focus of this class will be numismatic writing, publishing and research.
