The North Carolina Numismatic Association held its 50th Annual Coin Show and Convention Oct. 2-5 at the Hickory Metro Convention Center in Hickory, N.C.
Highlights of the event were a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Cliff Mishler, the largest bourse ever, two courses and both coin and paper money grading on the bourse floor.
Educational programs included presentations, an extensive YN program and educational exhibits. The Reid Gold Mine Historic Site provided the opportunity for hands-on gold panning.
At NCNA’s Oct. 4 banquet, the presentation of the American Numismatic Association’s Presidential Award went to NCNA President Bill Brewer, the John J. Pittman Award for Numismatist of the Year was awarded to Director Ken Sipe, the People’s Choice Award for outstanding exhibit went to Marsha Sipe and the Forrest and Tessie Michael Award for Volunteer of the Year was given to Anne and Halbert Carmichael.
