U.S. Mint Director Edmund C. Moy will be the keynote speaker at the 30th Art Medal World Congress to be held Sept. 19-22 at the American Numismatic Association in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Moy?s speech is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 19 to kick off this, the first International Medal Federation (FIDEM, for its French acronym) congress to be held in the United States in 20 years.
He is expected to tell approximately 150 of the world?s top hand-held sculpture artists of his hopes that the early part of the 21st century marks a ?neo-renaissance for artistry in new U.S. medals and coins.?
He is expected to enumerate some of the Mint?s new products, including the Presidential dollar series and the companion First Spouse gold coins.
Moy?s speech will be at the Antlers Hilton Hotel in Heritage E and F. The hotel is at 4 S. Cascade Ave.
The schedule also includes a banquet at the Broadmoor Resort to celebrate FIDEM?s 70th birthday.
There will be a special reception for visiting artists and the Colorado Springs art community.
The ANA Money Museum will have an exhibit featuring 1,500 handheld sculptures from 35 countries. Check the ANA Web site at www.money.org for details.
