Morgan dollars show new life
Gold and silver are adjusting, but platinum is showing some gains, probably based on its industrial base. Premiums on bullion-related modern issues have mirrored the fall in the spot metals prices of two weeks ago.

Type gold coins have followed bullion in a similar manner with a few positive exceptions and not quite as dramatically.
The market in Morgan dollars continues with a firm trend. Generic MS-65 issues show some new life. Several better dates have firmed up. There are even a few pluses in the Carson City issues that had dropped considerably over the past few months. Peace dollars are steady with only one negative change. An interesting note to remember is that on many better date issues one recorded transaction can change wholesale dealer bid/asks. This can often lead to distortions in market indications, e.g., a dealer buys a nice collection and figures a few better dates conservatively and then decides to send them to slab land. When his coins return some are graded higher than anticipated (usually lower) and the dealer offers them at bid levels instead of ask since he has a nice theoretical profit. If the transaction/offer gets recorded, the new ask becomes the old bid. This is a real, but usually is not indicative of the real market.
