The INA was honored to have recently elected American Numismatic Association President Clifford Mishler attend the show on Saturday. Mr. Mishler gave a talk on “Perspectives on our Hobby Community.” His presentation was attended by 25 interested participants. He was available all day to coin show attendees who may have had any questions or concerns for the ANA.
Also on the docket for Oct. 11 seminars was error specialist Ron Lashmit, who offered a presentation on “Major Die Errors in Coins and Currency.” His presentation drew in about 20 error enthusiasts who were attending the show.
The coin show was well-attended by collectors and investors alike. Show Chairman Chris Seuntjens expressed that he was very pleased with the show’s attendance and the participation of Mishler and Lashmit.
The show was hosted by the Des Moines Coin Club and was very well organized and managed. All areas of numismatics were represented with more than 50 tables of numismatic materials manned by 30 dealers. Show attendees were able to purchase numismatic supplies or books from Jim Helin of Northern Illinois Coin and Stamp.
The Sunday morning membership breakfast and meeting on Oct. 11 was attended by more than 40 registered INA members who enjoyed the excellent food presented by the Adventureland Inn’s kitchen.
INA President Lee Roe presented the Numismatist of the Year award to Secretary/Treasurer Beverly Ashton during the membership meeting. Roe also presented certificates of appreciation to Mishler and Lashmit for their seminar presentations.
The 72nd Annual Coin Show and Convention will be held at the same location next year on Oct. 9-10.
The association, Seuntjens and the members of the Des Moines Coin Club extend their thanks and appreciation to the dealers and all those who attended the show this year, and look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s show.
