Production has started for the half-ounce, quarter ounce and tenth-ounce American Eagle gold bullion coins.
This can be taken as another sign that supply and demand are more closely balanced this year than last when the gold fractional coins did not go on sale to the Mint’s authorized dealer network until Dec. 3.
No sales date has been revealed.
The possible offering of proof gold and silver American Eagles later this year is still contingent on the Mint’s ability to meet demand for the bullion versions.
A proof one-ounce platinum American Eagle is tentatively scheduled for sale to collectors in August.
Proof gold one-ounce Buffaloes will also be offered, but no date has been set. Sales of 49,388 bullion Buffaloes have been made since they began April 29 .
